Code of Conduct

This registry serves the Tanzanian developer community. Contributors, maintainers, and everyone interacting with the project are expected to behave in a way that keeps that community welcoming and useful.

Our Standards

Behavior that helps the project:

  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experience levels.
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback.
  • Focusing on what is best for the community and the developers who rely on this data.
  • Sourcing claims with public, verifiable references.
  • Anonymizing interview testimony according to the Privacy Policy.

Behavior that is not tolerated:

  • Harassment of contributors, maintainers, or anyone named or depicted in the registry.
  • Publishing personal names, contact details, or identifying information about employees, interviewers, or candidates.
  • Doxxing, whether direct (publishing private information) or indirect (providing a trail that leads to it).
  • Retaliating against a company, recruiter, or individual through the registry.
  • Submitting NDA-violating content, leaked documents, or proprietary internal material.
  • Discriminatory language, slurs, or personal attacks on any basis — ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, seniority, education, language.
  • Using the registry to promote recruitment agencies, coaching services, or commercial products without maintainer approval.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all project spaces: pull requests, issues, discussions, commit messages, documentation, and any communication channel operated by the maintainers. It also applies when an individual is officially representing the project in public spaces.

Enforcement

Violations may be reported privately to the maintainers. All reports are reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

Consequences for violations include, at maintainers' discretion:

  1. Private warning — a maintainer contacts the contributor and explains the concern.
  2. Public correction — the offending content is reverted or edited, with a note in the commit or PR.
  3. Temporary ban — the contributor is barred from interactions for a defined period.
  4. Permanent ban — in cases of doxxing, harassment, or willful repeat violations.

Maintainers who fail to follow or enforce this Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repercussions determined by other maintainers.

Attribution

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1, with additions specific to the privacy requirements of this registry.
